Austin City Council voted to ban chlorpyrifos, neonicotinoid-class insecticides, and restrict the use of glyphosate based herbicides. The council meeting Agendaitem 71, sponsored by Councilwoman Alison Alter, seeks to protect human, pollinator and environmental health. While the EPA under Scott Pruitt was busy helping the agrichemical industry increase profits at the expense of human and environmental health, Austin City Council is leading the way in Texas.
